Dr Dan's extensive experience enables him to offer effective outpatient individualized, psychological care. Drawing on over 35 years of successful counseling experience he can treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.
Dr Dan's focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. He achieves this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan.
In addition to talk therapy, Dr. Dan utilizes hypnotherapy, EMDR, Brain Spotting and many other approaches through relationship therapy. He does not use these approaches as stand alone techniques but integrates them in his services as needed.

Dr. Dan is a qualified supervisor for candidates pursing post degree clinical supervision in addiction recovery, counseling and relationship counseling and psychology.
Beginning therapy can create some anxiety because various myths and stigma exist around people wanting to change. Dr. Dan believes that "healthy people go to counseling" because it is the healthy people that recognize when events are repeating themselves, when they are unhappy or acting in ways that they don't want to. Healthy people recognize when it is time to go and shake things up and get back into life and love.
After receiving a Bachelors in psychology, Dr. Dan practiced as a substance abuse counselor for many years before going back to college for a Masters. After 8 years beyond graduation for his Master Degree, he decided he needed to know more and went back for a Doctorate. He holds licenses in Illinois and in Wisconsin as a Licensed Psychologist, Licenses Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor.
In addition to the above licenses, Dr. Dan has had trainings and/or certifications in: Trauma focused care including but not limited to EMDR, Brain Spotting and Trauma Focused CBT care; Additions including substance abuse, compulsive porn use, and gambling; various mental health and emotional regulation approaches including CBT, Adlerian, Psycho dynamic, brief therapy, and hypnotherapy.
Dr. Dan has successfully worked in various settings over the past 35 years including inpatient and outpatient programs. He is a tenure college professor providing instruction to students in pursuit of Master or Doctorate Degrees. By using his academic training, research and practice experience, he can combine them into a powerful and life changing counseling experience.
Insurance: As a courtesy, the office will forward invoices to your insurance company on your behalf. We are in network with many insurance entities. Be aware that your actual insurance company sets the therapy rate. Deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance may be required and is set up by each insurance carrier and each plan. In order to know in advance of your out-of-pocket expense, contact the number on the back of the insurance card. Dr. Bishop is a “doctorate” level “mental health outpatient” provider.
Some of the insurances he is covered under various commercial plans through: Anthem, Dean, Auxiant, Alliance, UMR, United Health Care.
Self-Pay: If you don’t have insurance or don’t wish to utilize your insurance, a reasonable self-pay rate is available. Please contact the office for more details, Rates range from $115 - 185.
We have two locations: Lake Geneva and Delavan Wisconsin.
In Lake Geneva we are at 415 Broad Street in Lake Geneva Wisconsin but is temporarily suspended due to ongoing repairs from the fire.
312 S. Seventh Street in Delavan Wisconsin has a free parking lot towards the rear of the building and is handicap accessible.
TeleHealth or Phone: Service can be delivered either by phone or a secure computer link when attending face to face is not possible or is inconvenient.
